Often spiritual seekers begin their journey as a small self searching for a big Self, i.e. a small consciousness hoping to find something divine called pure Consciousness. What they don’t realize is that the consciousness they are searching for is actually the one doing the seeking. In truth, consciousness can never be an object of knowledge. Our felt presence of being is ever present. If we stop searching and just focus on being, we will gradually regain our identity as a vast, expansive ocean of consciousness. We will begin to experience that everything that appears before us is actually appearing within us, just as the images that dance within a mirror are only appearances on the face of the mirror. There can never be one consciousness searching for another one. There is only one.
